(Coreopsis tinctoria)

This is our favorite dyer’s Coreopsis variety for eco-printing. The bicolor print on fabric is so striking! You can also obtain dye from the leaves and stems.

Beyond its use as a dye plant, dyer’s Coreopsis makes a great filler in arrangements, and it’s very popular with small native bees.

We prefer to direct sow seeds in early spring, but you can also start them indoors and transplant after danger of frost. The roots can be a tad fragile, so take care when transplanting.
